I tackle the light bidding and engine building game Furnace, designed by Ivan Lashin, coming in early 2021 from Hobby World International and Arcane Wonders. Is this strategy game set during the industrial revolution worthy of a place in your collection? Or should Furnace be tossed… well… a furnace so you can watch it go up in smoke? You’ll find out!

Summary
Furnace is a solid, if relatively lightweight, bidding and engine building game set during the industrial revolution. I found the ability to receive bonus actions or resources from factories you don't win a bid on to be a nice wrinkle. It will take a bit of time to grasp the iconography and how to effectively build your engine, so don't expect to master this in your first go round. The game doesn't run too long either and there's enough decision making where the gang and I enjoyed the experience without being overwhelmed.
