I share my thoughts about the Punks in a Powder Keg adventure for Pathfinder. Will your player characters want to dance with these punks in the first chapter in the Outlaws of Alkenstar adventure path? Or would you just be better served tossing a match into this powder keg and watching it go up? You’ll find out!

Pathfinder: Punks in a Powder Keg | Review and Page-Through

I really can't recommend picking up this first chapter in the Outlaws of Alkenstar adventure path. This entry is packed with many things I seriously dislike about a lot of recent roleplaying game adventures: lack of just about any player agency, far too many *blah* combat encounters, one note NPCs, absolute reliance on dice rolls and stats/skills/feats on the character sheets as opposed to challenging the players to actually think, and many more shortcomings. There are some interesting nuggets to be found within but if I were going to run this I'd need to tear this adventure apart and build it back up into something the RPG players I know would enjoy; I don't feel it would be work that time and effort. Obviously, your milage will vary. Also, if you have no interest in black powder weapons, steampunk, or clockwork creatures and gear, this will be a hard pass.
