I dive in to share my thoughts about the remastered RuneQuest 3 Classics: Sun County from Chaosium Inc. Originally published by Avalon Hill in 1992, the volume includes a gazetteer focused on the Sun County region, four adventures, encounters, NPC and creature stat blocks, and more. Does this book deserve the heaps of praise it’s received over the decades? Or is Sun County fondly remembered simply because of nostalgia value alone? You’ll find out!

**Note** It’s true I mispronounce the title of the book throughout. I glanced at the title when it first arrived, read it as Sun COUNTRY, and never thought about it again! DOH!

SUMMARY

I can certainly see why so many people over the years have spoken so highly about RuneQuest: Sun County. This new remastered edition cleans up the layout and presentation but is still designed for RuneQuest 3E - meaning you can easily use this with RQ2E without making any changes. The four adventures throughout are top notch and I like the fact that they run the gamut of starter tale to very advanced. You should easily be able to apply a vast majority of this to the current RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha relatively easily but the restatting could be a bit tricky. Regardless, there are plenty of modern RPG publishers who WISH they could pack as much excellent roleplaying gaming goodness into 200 pages as you'll find in these 124 pages.
