I bring you my thoughts on the new boxed starter set for The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying game from Free League Publishing. This gives game masters and players a taste of the survival mode of the RPG including a breakdown of the rules basics and an introductory adventure set in the world of the Walking Dead television shows.

The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Starter Set Reviewed

Sadly, The Walking Dead Universe Starter Set is a disappointment overall; especially in comparision to the amazing box sets Free League Publishing has released recently in the same price range. This isn't terrible but simply feels really barebones. The introductory adventure is essentially a B plotline you might see in a single episode of the shows and will probably play out within a three hour game session. I will say the production quality is great (outside of some poorly cut pregen character sheets) and the custom dice are well done. Regardless, if the custom dice aren't a big deal for you I'd recommend simply picking this up in PDF rather than getting the box set.
