New to the gaming scene, Italian publisher Ares Games has announced that they have purchased the license to produce a second edition of War of the Ring. This second edition will include the artwork from the previous version as well as an updated and revised rulebook. We can expect the release of this much sought after title sometime in fourth quarter 2011.
W. Eric Martin, of BoardGameGeekNews fame, is reporting of the possible liquidation of NG International, the Italian company that publishes Nexus Games. Nexus is probably best know for their War of the Ring and Wings of War titles. What this means for the futures of those, and many, other Nexus games is still up in the air. Will Fantasy Flight Games step in and purchase the rights to WotR and WoW (Wings of War – not World of Warcraft!) as well as some other titles? I could see FFG picking up War of the Ring, but fans of Wings of War should be concerned because the American gaming titan already had cut WoW loose just a couple months back.
