Tonight the classic H.P. Lovecraft tale The Shadow Over Innsmouth continues. Just like the BBC Radio production of At the Mountains of Madness, this adaptation’s use of music and sound really makes this program stand out. Neal Gardner should receive loads of credit for making the presentation sound like an audio drama as opposed to simply a narrator reading a story; which is exactly what this is. Of course, Richard Coyle’s various voices adds quite a lot too, although some of his Yankee accents are a touch over the top. Still, this is a really great adaptation of Lovecraft’s novella.
Turn out the lights, sit back, and give a listen to part two of the BBC Radio 4 Extra production of The Shadow Over Innsmouth as it aired in 2011.
