John Carpenter’s classic horror film is getting the tabletop treatment with Halloween: The Board Game from Trick or Treat Studios. This is a one vs many, hidden movement game where Michael Myers will face off against a variety of victems *ahem* opponents. The game is for two to four players, ages 14+, plays in around 30 to 60 minutes, and will carry an MSRP of $59.95 when it arrives in August.
About the game:
It was the night HE came home… and one player must take on the role of Michael Myers! The others will control Laurie and her friends as they scramble to find weapons, the kids, and a way to escape. Their task will be made more difficult because Myers can only be seen when you’re looking right at him!
In this 1 vs. many game, most of the players will run around the board, searching through houses for useful items and for the kids – Tommy and Lindsey. They can win the game by either causing enough damage to Michael Myers, or by finding Tommy, Lindsey, and a set of car keys so they can escape to safety! Meanwhile, the player controlling Michael Myers will stalk them – and because he is only visible when someone is looking directly at him, he will be an ever-present danger throughout the game. The Myers player can win by killing enough characters, or by preventing the players from escaping for long enough. (If a player’s character is killed, they lose anything they’re carrying but will come on the board with a new character from the movie).
This 1 vs Many game by renowned designer Emerson Matsuuchi is the first time the original Halloween movie has been made into its own board game.
