I’d say another reason why Traveller is not more popular is that none of their scenarios or campaigns are easy to run with minimal prep. This has been an issue since GDW days. Traveller adventures need a lot of prep by referees to run. It’s not just me. I recall the Grognard Files podcast making the same point about playing Traveller in the 80s. If they’d only had GDW adventures to run, they would’ve walked away. Fortunately magazines like White Dwarf published more playable adventures (and in fairness the GDW Double Adventures were often better than the full adventures). Even the best of them (probably Pirates of Drinax) needs a lot of work to prep. It all adds another barrier to entry, alongside cost. I noticed you’ve never reviewed a Traveller scenario or campaigns. You should. They’re not easily playable as written.
