The Widow’s Web: Trials of the Drow Passes 400% Funding on Kickstarter

Newcomers Eight-Legged Entertainment have launched a Kickstarter to fund a PvE/PvP styled roleplaying adventure for D&D. Players take on the roles of Drow competing to be the last standing in a series of three stand-alone adventures, in The Widow’s Web: Trials of the Drow. The project is over 400% funded and you can reserve a copy of the hardcover (with PDF) for a pledge of $60.00 or grab just the PDF for a pledge of $30.00 through November 22nd. Expected delivery is next July for the PDF and next October for the physical book.

About the project:

In the drow city of Karik’Marz, eight champions are sent into The Widow’s Web, a deadly labyrinth filled with monsters, traps, puzzles, and betrayal. The winner’s house will rule the city for the next century. The losers will die horrible deaths, victims of the Web’s unforgiving trials. Can you survive both the dungeon and the murderous schemes of your fellow dark elves?

The Widow’s Web: Trials of the Drow is a competitive 5e experience (2014 and 2024 compatible). The book contains three Web one-shots, and each scenario stands alone, intended to be played in one session with eight players and a GM (with guidelines to adjust for 6 or 7 players). Eight characters enter, but only one will survive to be the winner.

However, it’s not a bloodbath/deathmatch in the classic sense. The players will face a series of challenges: puzzles, monsters, traps, and devious encounters, set by the drow goddess, Malarachne!

Nearly all challenges result in a character’s death. However, Malarachne requires that all her challenges be conquered to achieve victory, so wafer-thin alliances are required to survive the various rooms.

Cooperation is necessary, but betrayal is inevitable.

The Widow’s Web is tons of fun and gives players a chance to be evil without mucking up long-term campaign dynamics.
