I share my thoughts on the horror roleplaying game The Terror Beneath from Osprey Games. The RPG is inspired by the late 19th/early 20th century tales of Arthur Machen and is built on the Gumshoe game system for investigative adventuring.

SUMMARY

If you're a fan of the late 19th/early 20th century horror tales of Arthur Machen then The Terror Beneath should certainly be on your radar. I think the designer has incorporated the Gumshoe mechanics quite well while also making some interesting tweaks to the system. I'll say this won't appeal to those looking for fast paced or relatively gory sort of terror tales and - since this is an Osprey Games release - there's no telling if this is just a "one and done" but I can happily report this isn't simply just a rehash of the same old, same old.
