World Wide Catan Championship in the USA Next Year

The 2012 World Catan Championship is already being planned for September 2012.  The last time it took place in the USA was in 2008 at Gen Con in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Now it is coming back to the States next year in Valley Forge, PA.

Here’s the announcement:

It’s Championship Time! For only the second time in history, The United States will be hosting the WWCC–the World Wide Catan Championship–in September, 2012. The event will be held just outside of legendary Valley Forge, PA, at the historic Normandy Farm.

Held every two years, the WWCC event draws players from Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. The current champion (crowned in 2010) is Erwin Paulesen of The Netherlands.

Settlers of Catan is one of the most acclaimed Board games ever published, winning both the celebrated Essen Feather and Origins Award. Settlers has been translated into 30 languages.
