TGG Inside the Box: ‘Hornet Leader – The Cthulhu Conflict’

Here’s a peek at what you’ll find in the box for the latest expansion to Hornet Leader, from DVG, and this time around you’ll be tackling the Great Old One Cthulhu and his minions in The Cthulhu Conflict. It’s a bit of a mashup of air combat simulation and the Lovecraft mythos. The Cthuhu Conflict is available right now for an MSRP of $29.99.

Couldn’t you play the game with Phantom Leader Deluxe Pilots…

I’ve been bouncing that around Andy. At least to get a better clue of how The Cthulhu Conflict plays.

I wasn’t sure where to post this question but I thought it was deserving of an answer. Do you check out any of the videos your former “partner in crime” Elliot does on youtube under his voice of e channel? Any thoughts on his approach to game reviews? I know I speak for a lot of people who really miss the Gaming Gang podcasts as they were a lot of fun to listen to and you both had great chemisty on the shows. It might not have been the sort of gaming program that everyone wanted as far as just cut and dried gaming stuff but you guys would crack the hell out of me every show! I’ve checked out some of the videos Elliot is doing on YT and it seems like he’s really missing out on the more hard edged take you had on things. Just curious.

Actually Ace, I think I’ve covered this in some detail previously as to Mr. Miller no longer being part of TGG. I will mention it’s interesting you ask the question as you’ve personally been one of the site’s harshest critics during our run.

I don’t worry much about what Elliott (correct spelling by the way) does with his YouTube channel or his website. I’m sure he’s quite pleased with himself when one of his videos reaches a few hundred views since putting together vids for YT is now his bread and butter. I, on the other hand, focus on TGG itself and anything like video or podcasts should be looked upon as a little touch of icing on the cake around here as opposed to the gist of the site.

I have seen about six minutes or so of Elliott’s videos and chuckle to myself as they are almost exactly what I would expect; whatever product he’s covering takes a backseat to the so called talent and he’ll share with the public whatever he thinks will continue to keep him in the good graces of companies so his flow of freebies doesn’t come to an end. As far as legitimate reporting? I think longtime visitors to TGG will agree that was never one of Mr. Miller’s strong suits and now that he polices himself, I’d be very wary as to anything he has to say about any topic. I want to say the last time I checked out a video from the Voice of Idiocy was the Iron Man 3 “preview” in which Elliott pulled nonsense directly from his ass and played it off as if he was providing some inside scoop of what to expect from the film. About the only way he’d have been further from the truth would have been if he’d predicted Iron Man wouldn’t be in Iron Man 3… I felt sorry for him after about three minutes and then a minute later I surfed on off to more enlightening fare.

Yet, if you’re whole shtick is to shoot dingy looking video screaming cheap and cheesy, I suppose you’d claim whatever you could in order to get people to watch. I’m not sure if it’s still the same case but when you search for a video channel on YouTube, and you’re very own channel isn’t in the first half dozen results I think I’d be worried about my content and my brand. Not to say Elliott was ever too concerned with content or the TGG brand when he was part of the team here, since the buck starts and stops with Elliott as far as Elliott is concerned.

As much as people may like to see or hear Elliott as a part of TGG once again, I will emphatically state once and for all not only won’t he ever have a place contributing to the site again but – and I think this is more important – he will NEVER occupy a place in my life again either. At this point you’d be better served betting on the Beatles reuniting their original lineup than Elliott making a comeback around here.

Hopefully my comment can now be considered as my final word on the subject.
