Rive looks to be an interesting mix of deck building card game and board game and is currently up for funding on Kickstarter. The title, for two to four players, looks to be a bit of an odd mishmash of mechanics but I’ll take a stab there are plenty of gamers out there interested in giving the system a look. The Slingin’ d6s Inc. funding project for Rive continues to run through June 26th.
About the project:
A deeply strategic and highly replayable deck building board game, where players command one of four factions to battlefield domination.
At the centre of the universe is a planet. It’s the original birthplace of all life in the universe; it’s steeped in knowledge, resources, and littered with the technology and treasures of an ancient empire. Every civilization has lore regarding this planet and it beckons them to return to their place of birth. Through mysticism, technology or even luck, only recently have civilizations found their way to this planet. With each new arrival the planet becomes increasingly rived with war and until one civilization reigns supreme there appears to be no end to the turmoil.
What is Rive?
Rive is a multi-faction strategic deck building game where the contents of your customizable deck (units, actions & battlefield manipulation cards) interact with a hex-based game board.
Designed for 2-4 players, and taking about an hour to play, Rive blends together familiar game mechanics to create a combat focused, highly replayable, deeply strategic and unique gameplay experience.
