Strat-O-Matic Reveals Digital ‘Baseball Daily’ for 2016

Baseball Daily (Strat-O-Matic Games)I ran across the article in the New York Times yesterday so I was keeping my eyes open for today’s big Strat-O-Matic news announcement. It turns out the venerable sports game company has been hard at work on an all new digital baseball game which will reflect the day by day, ups and downs of major league player stats over the course of a season. The result is Baseball Daily where players will adjust their fictional team lineups, and play head to head, based on a constantly updating database of information.

I have to say I have fond memories of playing loads of SoM baseball, football, hockey, and even basketball back in the 80’s – although I haven’t had achance to check out recent releases or SoM digital offerings – and look forward to what Strat-O-Matic might have in store for fans of the national pastime. Sorry to say the announcement below doesn’t go into pricing details (or much by way of hard details at all) so stay tuned as we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.

Today’s announcement:

Dear Strat-O-Matic Gamers,

It is with great excitement that I announce the launch of Baseball Daily, a game that will revolutionize the Strat-O-Matic playing experience.

For the first time in the Company’s history, Strat-O-Matic will have digital cards that are updated daily, based on the current season’s real life player performance. Baseball Daily will be available for our newly rebranded Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365 online game and for our Windows baseball game as an optional add-on. Baseball Daily digital cards, which are composed the same way for both platforms, will reflect a combination of current season stats, recent performance, projected stats and Strat-O-Matic’s proprietary algorithms and ratings. Historical data will be factored into the cards at the start of the season, with current season stats having increased influence as the season progresses.

ONLINE
In Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365, you can sign up for a Baseball Daily league at any point during the Major League season. Per usual, you draft a team, set your lineup each night and check back in the morning as three games are simulated. With Baseball Daily, not only will you want to check the results of your team’s games, you will be anxious to see how all of your players’ cards have changed based on their previous night’s actual performance.

WINDOWS
The Baseball Daily feature will be an optional add-on for this year’s new Strat-O-Matic Baseball 2016 Windows game. This feature will provide you with the incredibly unique experience of managing your favorite baseball team through its current in-season schedule on a nightly basis. Unhappy with the way your favorite team’s manager is using the bullpen? Think he should bench an unproductive, highly paid starter for a scorching hot bench player? Baseball Daily for Windows will give you the opportunity to make these decisions from the top step of the dugout. Please note that Baseball Daily for the Windows game cannot be used for draft league play.

Strat-O-Matic ran a simulation of the 2015 World Series that received a lot of publicity for the accuracy of its individual player statistic predictions. It was not revealed at the time that the simulation was conducted using the data and cards from the Baseball Daily game. Here were some of the predictions that came to life:
  • Kansas City wins first two games at home
  • Jeurys Familia blows the save in a game that ends in 14 innings
  • Home runs by Alcides Escobar and Alex Gordon in Game 1
  • Matt Harvey allows three earned runs in Game 1
  • New York’s bullpen implodes in Game 1
  • Jacob deGrom allows four earned runs in Game 2
  • Johnny Cueto allows one earned run in Game 2
  • David Wright hits a clutch home run in Game 3; New York wins the game
  • Michael Conforto hits a home run in Game 4 (ACTUAL: Conforto hit two HRs in the game)
  • Harvey dominates in Game 5: 7ip, 0 runs, 4h, 1bb, 8k (ACTUAL: Harvey’s pitching line through seven innings was identical, short of one strikeout. Manager Terry Collins left Harvey in to pitch longer and New York surrendered the lead in the ninth inning).
While Baseball Daily cannot be counted on to predict the outcomes of games or individual player performances, it is the most realistic simulator on the market because of the fact that it accounts for current player performance.

Unlike what you have heard in the news about daily fantasy sports sites, Strat-O-Matic always has and always will be about playing for the love of the game. Baseball Daily is a fun, new way to get your regular dose of Strat-O-Matic and a way to broaden the interest in the hobby to new gamers who are only interested in current data. So… tell all of your friends!

Baseball Daily for the Windows platform will be available for pre-order with all of our other new baseball products starting Wednesday, January 27th. The game will then become accessible on Monday, April 4th – the first day following Opening Day of the Major League season. Gamers can purchase credits at any time for Baseball Daily on our Strat-O-Matic 365 platform. Baseball Daily leagues for that platform will also commence on Monday, April 4th.

We hope you will give this exciting new game a try on both platforms!

Happy Gaming,
