Newcomers to Magic: The Gathering should be interested in checking out the Spellslinger Starter Kit which will not only include two prebuilt decks but also teach the game right out of the box. Each deck will be constructed to play the first game and teach MTG mechanics straight away. The starter kit will carry an MSRP of $14.95 when it arrives October 5th from Wizards of the Coast.
About the Starter Kit:
Coming from Wizards of the Coast this October will be a two-player starter set that could very well become the gold standard for CCG introductory play. Not only does it have everything you need to learn how to play, but it has incredible value far beyond its initial use.
Probably the most important feature of this kit is that the decks will be ready to play out of the box, meaning they are not meant to be shuffled. The card on the top of each deck will walk players through starting the game with predetermined steps matching the order that the decks come in. After the tutorial is complete, they’ll be able to shuffle their decks and learn why every game of Magic: The Gathering is different.
Since it will be released after Guilds of Ravnica, the kit will contain a number of cards from that set.
Each set contains:
2 60-card Standard-legal decks
2 Quick-start guides
1 Rules and World of Magic booklet
2 “Do No Shuffle”/”On Your Turn” cards
2 Spindown life-counters
