Well, things have been mighty quiet over the last week or so here on the site…
Of course, Elliott and I have been in Columbus, Ohio covering this year’s Origins. You’ll be reading and hearing loads about the so very shortly but I did want to mention the reason we weren’t able to cover the convention as we had game planned.
The short of it is that someone *ahem* “acquired” my laptop during my trip to Chicago to meet up with Elliott for the drive to Columbus. As a side note, I live in Mesa, AZ while Elliott lives in a suburb just outside Chicago so we decided I’d fly in and drive with Elliott. The fact the missing laptop wasn’t noticed until we checked into our hotel room – 350 miles away from Elliott’s own laptop sitting at home – left us in a lurch. We had our cameras and recorders but no way to immediately share the info with our friends here on TGG.
I think you’ll find that we still have loads of great info and fun to get out there but just not in the manner we had originally envisioned.
That said, I’ll also give folks a word of advice: Regardless of what someone tells you, don’t try to fly on a buddy pass if you’re interested in actually reaching your destination sometime during the current calendar year… I made the mistake of listening to a relative and, while trying to cut costs, ended up out of luck. It was a mad scramble to hook up with Elliott but I still made it to the show and back home, so it’s all good!
I’m sure Elliott and I will joke about the disasters I endured to reach Columbus and return home again on the upcoming show! We can laugh about it now of course but it was pretty hairy going at times.
Origins was great though and we had a blast while meeting some wonderful people! Here’s hoping you enjoy our coverage we’re about to bring you!
