Pandemic Reprints Coming at a Higher Price

Z-Man Games has announced reprints of Pandemic and Pandemic: On the Brink will be hitting shelves at your friendly local game store this September. One one hand this is good news seeing both titles have been difficult for some gamers to find while, on the other, there is a need to take the price increase into account. Pandemic will retail for $39.99 and On the Brink is $34.99. These are increases of five dollars from the original MSRP. Not a big bump to be sure but the new pricing does need to be mentioned.

Gen Con Release: Mansions of Madness, The Silver Tablet

Someone better get ready to catch Elliott when he faints because Fantasy Flight Games has announced a surprise for Gen Con attendees: a previously undisclosed Mansions of Madness expansion. The expansion is entitled The Silver Tablet and there isn’t much info to be gathered just yet but we do know the expansion will be available for sale at the convention and will make it’s way to stores soon after. Game Salute has an image of the expansion box if you’d like to take a quick peek.

Gen Con Release: Cthulhu Gloom

Atlas Games is releasing Cthulhu Gloom beginning tomorrow at Gen Con. The game will make it’s way to stores soon afterward. The game is a stand alone expansion for Gloom so you can take it as is or add it to your previously existing set.

GAMA Wizard World

GAMA Joins Forces with Wizard World

The Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is pleased to announce its partnership with Wizard World, Inc., producer of North America’s largest pop-culture tour. GAMA is supporting the two shows to include a trade day and gaming events at Wizard World Shows. The first, Chicago Comic Con, will take place at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., August 11-14, and the second, Mid-Ohio Comic Con at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on October 22-23.

X-Wing to Hit the Tabletop as FFG acquires Star Wars

Fantasy Flight Games has acquired the rights from Lucasfilms to publish Star Wars games. Woot! This includes Board, Card, Roleplaying, and Miniatures. So of course one of their first releases will be X-Wing, a miniatures game.

Take Your Munchkin to the Next Level

Munchkin Deluxe from Steve Jackson Games is now available. Now you can step it up a notch. Personally, I crank my Munchkin games to Level 11. Everyone else’s only goes to ten, but I’ve got an 11.

Evo Evolves…

Asmodee is producing a brand new revamped version of Evo which is rumored to be coming out this August.

NG International

Is Nexus Games No More?

W. Eric Martin, of BoardGameGeekNews fame, is reporting of the possible liquidation of NG International, the Italian company that publishes Nexus Games. Nexus is probably best know for their War of the Ring and Wings of War titles. What this means for the futures of those, and many, other Nexus games is still up in the air. Will Fantasy Flight Games step in and purchase the rights to WotR and WoW (Wings of War – not World of Warcraft!) as well as some other titles? I could see FFG picking up War of the Ring, but fans of Wings of War should be concerned because the American gaming titan already had cut WoW loose just a couple months back.

Test Drive Richard III: War of the Roses for 99 Cents

In a very interesting marketing move, Columbia Games has announced that you can check out Richard III: War of the Roses for less than a dollar! Off hand I can’t think of any other gaming company that will let you try out one of their titles for a month before they charge you. Kudos to the gang at Columbia for… wait for it… thinking “outside the box”!
