A truly bonkers episode of the short lived Dark Fantasy makes an appearance on the October Spooktacular. The program, though well received by the public, only lasted a year as NBC execs felt the series was a bit too chilling. Interestingly enough, Dark Fantasy originated out of Oklahoma City which wasn’t exactly a hot bed of nationally syndicated radio production.
Spawn of the Subhuman – originally aired on February 27th, 1942 – mashes up an opera singer, her manager/boyfriend, a mad scientist, and an uplifted gorilla. The tale starts out slowly and begins to entertainingly go absolutely off the rails.
