It is interesting to listen to a different radio heritage. Ours, in England, tended more towards the comedic. We had the genius of the Goons and Round the Horne. The latter was featuring sketches doing Polari, the lingua franca of a still banned gay community. This was stuff pushing the envelope. Perhaps because his career was abbreviated by alcoholism, I remember Tony Hancock, the very definition of a tragic genius. So perhaps we did have horror after all.
