‘Cosmic Pioneers’ to Land at Gen Con 2016

Cosmic Pioneers (Vesuvius Media)Following a successful Kickstarter run Vesuvius Media has revealed Cosmic Pioneers has gone into production with a release set for Gen Con. This area control game, for two to four players, focuses on colonizing planets throughout the Tau Ceti system as each faction aims to defeat both the alien natives as well as the other gamers around the table. You can currently preorder the title, along with all the unlocked stretch goals, for $40.

From Vesuvius Media:

Cosmic Pioneers is a Sci-fi board game for 2 to 4 players. It is an area control game in which players try to control planets using their Colonists. Players compete with both the other players and the aliens native to each world for control, upgrading their ship throughout the game to gain new abilities. Each player starts with a ship and a different commander, each of whom has a unique power, helping them in their goal of controlling the Tau Ceti system. But beware! The planets are already inhabited by different types of aliens that do not wish to share their home!

The winner of the game is the player who has the most victory points. Victory points are mainly gained by controlling planets at the end of the game.

Explore the new system, expand your control of its planets, exploit the vicious aliens, and exterminate your opponents!

Are you ready Captain?

Vesuvius Media is proud to announce its second board game, Cosmic Pioneers, is now in production after surpassing its Kickstarter crowdfunding goal by over 40 percent.

“We are very happy with the result of the campaign,” said Konstantinos Manos, CEO of the Halifax-based game production company Vesuvius Media. “Thank you to everyone who backed this project and to our great game community. We couldn’t have done it without you!”

Cosmic Pioneers is a family-friendly, sci-fi board game for 2 to 4 players with a unique drafting setup mechanism for unlimited replayability. The game is designed to introduce casual board game players to more hard core game mechanics such as area control and resource management. The basic game rules can be learned in just 10 minutes and a full game session can be played in less than an hour.

“I started working on the prototype of this game four years ago, creating planet cards on index cards when I should have been paying attention in math class,” said Cosmic Pioneers’ Game Designer Jake Clancy. “Thanks to lots of hard work, by lots of people, the finished product is beyond anything I ever imagined.”

The game will be featured at Vesuvius Media’s GenCon 2016 exhibit booth in Indianapolis, Indiana, this Summer along with its other board game titles Centauri Saga, Dwar7s Fall, and Tube Heroes Racers.
