Are they going to wheel George in on a stretcher or wheelchair ala Raymond Burr in Ironsides? For a writer who was only interested in a trilogy when A Game of Thrones came out, he seems to have forgotten what trilogy means; I thought his last name was Martin and not Jordan. I can't think of one writer who spends more time screwing around trying to make money off of not writing than Martin does. Can anyone claim that anything in the Song of Ice and Fire published after the second book was even readable? It's getting to the point that his series is going to be irrelevant, as far as the fantasy genre goes, simply because he's drunk the Robert Jordan guide to publishing kool-aide.

  2. I only made it past the first two books myself, before I got po'ed and stopped reading them. But the Robert Jordan Wheel of time books are the best series I ever read. I am very happy the next book will be out early next month, despite the fact that the new author just ins't the same as Jordan. I've grown to really care for these characters, whose plotlines Jordan knew ever since the series began. Is Rand going to get his hand back? Is Matt going to lose an eye? The series is coming to a close. It took a lot longer than he anticipated, true. But his writing is masterful, there are allusions to things that don't happen until book twelve right in book one. You have to read them all, and then listen to the audiobooks, to truly appreciate what he has created. There are good parts and bad parts. A whole book where nothing much happened, but I don't care. The work is genius, and I am sorry that it is coming to a close.

The books were originally going to be a trilogy but he realized rather early on that it would take 6 books to fully flesh out the story he'd created. The story doesn't just plod along endlessly, like Mr. Jordan's or Mr. Goodkind's books seem to.
