Embers of War is the first expansion in the new Emperor Edition release for the Legend of the Five Rings CCG from AEG. Embers of War will prerelease beginning May 4th, although sales of the expansion are not allowed until the official release on May 14th. Currently, AEG is shipping promotional cards to members of their Stronghold Store program, so you’ll want to hit your FLGS to make sure you score some promos before the official release.

From AEG:

Noble Samurai of Rokugan,

Many of you are wondering when you will be able to begin visiting the notorious ‘Den of Iniquity’ that was teased with the release of Emperor Edition earlier this year. You will be pleased to know that the first expansion of Emperor Edition, Embers of War, will be having a pre-release event very much like the one we ran for the release of Emperor. And it is there, that you will be able to get your hands on Den of Iniquity, as it will be the pre-release card for this event.

These pre-release events will begin on May 4th, 2012, and Embers of War will release in full on May 14th.

There is one thing we would like to take time to clarify. In the matter of fairness, and to ensure there is no confusion – Den of Iniquity currently has a legality date of April 1st; given that it is being sent along with the pre-release for Embers of War, and not all stores are able to run their pre-release events at the same time, Den of Iniquity’s printed legality date is no longer correct; instead, it will become legal when Embers of War releases in full to the public on May 14th, 2012.

We hope you enjoy these festive events, and that you enjoy your first trip to the notorious Den of Iniquity.

Yasuki Tono,
Crab Clan Merchant

In the distant Colonies, once known as the Ivory Kingdoms, the samurai of Rokugan gather the resources the Empire needs to survive. Threatened by unknown enemies and pitted against one another in politics and economics, will their honor and steel prove strong enough for the Second City to survive? The 159-card Embers of War expansion for the Legend of the Five Rings Collectible Card Game is introduced in three unique Clan starter decks (Lion, Spider, and Unicorn) each containing one exclusive, fixed card and a theme-oriented Stronghold offered in 6-count displays, as well as supplemental boosters packed in 48-count displays.
