The fantasy card gaEpicDeathme of wild adventure questing, Epic Death!, rocked out to its funding goal in less than a day on Kickstarter. Just taking a peek at the cover art makes you wonder if you should have some Molly Hatchet playing it the background as you bring the game to the table. Epic Death! can be had at the $35.00 backing level from Game Salute.

About the project:

In Epic Death! you command a party of Adventurers as they face encounters and quests in an amusing and savage fantasy realm.  You may have to do battle with bears, wrestle with a gang of cantankerous crones, or perhaps even smite your hangover from the previous evening. No quest is too small!

Beware! Should you fail in your early quests, your hero will accrue Fail points which naturally count against how Epic you are.  However, success will earn you Epic Loot, which you can attach to your Adventurers and build up their value.

Once you have chosen your quest, all players get the chance to play Fate cards, modifying a party’s chances of succeeding in their adventures in both positive and negative ways. Once all the Fate cards are down the player must trust in chance and roll the dice – modified by their good or bad fortune – to see if they were successful. Thankfully, there’s always the chance of an epic roll that can make up for even the most terrible of luck.

With all the lesser quests handled, the heroes will go seeking Epic Death! – a fiend or challenge worthy of being their final adventure, such as a mano-a-tentacleo battle against the mighty Kraken. Should the adventurer succeed in the epic quest while dying, it is worth twice as many points! Success isn’t all bad though, as it brings in epic Loot to distribute to your Adventurers as well as Fate cards to add to your hand.

Once any player has found an Epic Death! for every member of their party, the game ends and the dead Adventurers (ONLY the dead Adventurers!) are counted toward the players’ scores.
