Games Workshop and Cubicle 7 Reveal Warhammer The Horus Heresy Roleplaying Game

Today Games Workshop and Cubicle 7 Games announce a new roleplaying game set in the grimdark science fiction world of Warhammer. Slated for a Spring 2026 release is Warhammer The Horus Heresy Roleplaying Game and it is planned to arrive with core books and a starter set.

The announcement from Cubicle 7 Games:

Celebrated tabletop studio Cubicle 7 will release the first ever roleplaying game for Games Workshop’s best-selling Warhammer The Horus Heresy.

“The Horus Heresy is the founding story of one of gaming and science fiction’s best-loved settings” said Cubicle 7’s Dominic McDowall. “The epic scale of the Heresy’s tragic tale is as big as it gets, and the legends your characters forge in the roleplaying game will rival those found in the classics.”

The game opens with the betrayal at Isstvan – an act of vile treachery that tears the Imperium in two. You are thrown straight into the maelstrom as Legionary Consuls leading a rag-tag warfleet fighting desperately for survival – and vengeance. Your first priority is to escape, harried by traitors warp-bent on your destruction. But what then? How will you survive and regroup? How do you overcome the shock of betrayal and keep your forces supplied? Perhaps most importantly – who can you trust?

The game will launch with Core Rulebooks and Starter Set for preorder in Summer 2025, and release in stores Spring 2026.

About Warhammer The Horus Heresy

Warhammer The Horus Heresy is set 10,000 years before the current events of the Warhammer 40,000 timeline. The galaxy is in flames and the Emperor’s glorious vision for humanity is in ruins. The Warmaster Horus, has been corrupted by Chaos and started a galactic civil war. The mighty and redoubtable Space Marines, mankind’s ultimate warriors who once fought side by side protecting the galaxy, now stand divided. Some remain loyal to the Emperor, whilst others have sided with the Warmaster. Pre-eminent amongst them are the Primarchs – magnificent, superhuman beings, that lead the Space Marine Legions. Treachery and betrayal have usurped honour and nobility and victory is uncertain for either side. The Horus Heresy is one of the most grandiose narrative tragedies in science fiction, anchored in family betrayal that leads to civil war and thousands of years of galaxy wide conflict.
