Our friends over at Victory Point Games is once again bringing in some of the designers to meet and play their latest releases (and games that are on the horizon) with the public! If you’re near the Orange County, California area you can spend your Saturday afternoon having fun with some of the VPG gang, absolutely free of charge.
I wonder if you could say the same about many of the bigger game companies out there.
I’ll save you the time of pondering that question and provide you with the answer right up front.
Ahhhh…. No.
From VPG:
Every Saturday, VPG has their doors open for anyone to come on in and playtest games both old and new. This Saturday, July 9th, beginning at 12 Noon, you have a chance to meet with the designers of published VPG titles. What’s more, you have a chance to sit down with them and playtest their upcoming games!
The designers available this upcoming Saturday will be: Nathan Hansen (Battle of 4 Armies), Jeremy Lennert (For the Crown), and Sean Young (PARSEC).
The Battle of 4 Armies, from designer Nathan Hansen, is a quick paced, abstract BattlessonTM game where you must capture the Crown of Chip and outmaneuver the other players. This weekend, Nathan will be playtesting the Battle of 4 Armies expansion! The expansion contains an additional army unit, and each Army now has a special ability which enriches gameplay.
For the Crown, from designer Jeremy Lennert, is a two player game that combines the popular ‘deck-building’ mechanic with engrossing variations of Chess. Each player must build their army and strategize in order to capture the rival King and Heirs to prove your claim to the throne! This weekend, Jeremy will be playtesting the For the Crown expansion kit 1, with an all new set of cards and units; as well as an upcoming game – Destined Hero – a two player game where you control the forces of good or evil and decide the fate of the world!
M.A.R.S, from designer Sean Young, is an upcoming game to be playtested this weekend. Each player controls a cusomizable squad of high tech tanks and giant robots called MARS, an acronym for Mobile Attack Robot System. Players fight for control over the planet of Calico, either as the rebel Children of Calico or the Earth Defense Forces.
