Currently arriving on store shelves is Travel Blog from Z-Man Games. It looks like an interesting take on the “travel across the world” sort of genre and here’s what Z-Man has to say:
Travel Blog is a game of travel, writing, and saving as much money as you can. Travel Blog is designed by the enigmatic Vlaada Chvatil, and can be played by between 2 and 6 players and lasts around 30 minutes.
Travel Blog is a light game where players must think fast and choose carefully.
At the beginning of the game players will receive a stipend of 100 Euros, which they use to fund their travels during rounds 1 and 2. Remember, it’s good to visit several places, but players don’t want to spend all their money – they are saving for the trip of their lives!
Players quickly look at the map they are playing on (either the USA or Europe), the map is then turned face down!
At the beginning of round 3 players are given another stipend, this time however, they will choose two different places to visit, and may visit them in whatever order they choose. A crafty player will again choose places that aren’t too close to the starting location or each other, but will pick places that aren’t so far away that all their money is frittered away on travel expenses.
In rounds 5 and 6 , another stipend is received, and this time two cards are dealt to the middle of the board, players must also choose two places to visit, and must therefore construct the trip starting at one of the middle places, travelling through their two chosen places, and that will end in the other place in the center of the board.
The final round is round 7, this trip flips the paradigm – players want to construct the most expensive trip they can, and will be receiving money to pay for the trip for all the hard work they have done. Players want to travel far and wide and really rack up the expenses – as it is the player after the 7th round who has the kept and collected the most money, who will win the game!
Travel Blog retails at $39.99 and is currently in stock at Funagain Games!
