Print on Demand Expansions for Death Angel

So, you read the review on Space Hulk: Death Angel the Card Game and ran out and picked it up right away.  After twenty or so plays, you wanted more.  The locations and missions were getting stale, you were looking for more options for your Space Marines.

Fantasy Flight Games have introduced two expansions for Death Angel.  The interesting thing about these expansions, is that they are Print On Demand (POD).  If you order it, they will print one out and send it to you.  No need for them to keep a stock, or get sold out, or have to order 5000 when they only need 50.  You don’t have to worry about them getting sold out, you can order the high quality expansion pack whenever you decide you want it, and they can print it out and send it.

I like this whole Print On Demand idea, as long as the quality is the same as in the base game.  With many games today that have been out for a while, the expansions are no longer available.  Try finding Pandemic: On the Brink for example.  I was late to the Death Angel party, so I’m glad that I have the option to order these expansions without worrying if they will be sold out.

Here are the descriptions of the available expansions if you are looking to pick them up:

The Space Marine Pack 1 expansion adds two all-new Combat Teams to the fold. Brother Kaphael adds mobility to the team, while Brother Adron’s Cyclone Missile Launcher will be sure to add a new level of devastation to your team. Brother Metraen’s alertness will ensure that both sides stay covered while Chaplain Raziel channels his pious faith into paralysing attacks.

Each new Combat Team comes with their appropriate Action cards (three for each Combat Team). In addition, the Space Marine Pack 1 also includes eight Combat Team cards to replace the original six Combat Team markers in Death Angel.

The Mission Pack 1 expansion brings twelve new Location cards to provide alternate missions for players. These cards are seamlessly incorporated into your Death Angel game – simply shuffle the Location cards into their appropriate decks and build your mission as normal.

But beware! New terrors have emerged in the form of Adrenal Genestealers: deathly agile and relentless. These dangerous new foes will pop out from every dark corner, unleashing attack after attack.

Also included in Mission Pack 1 is an all-new Terrain card, that will threaten to thrust unfortunate space marines out into the cold embrace of space.

Not a huge fan of this particular game, but love the idea of print on demand. How long until they let you print custom stuff for your games?
