‘Shadowrift: Boomtown’ Expansion Passes Funding Goal in First Day on Kickstarter

Shadowrift: Boomtown (Starling Games)Earlier today Starling Games launched a Kickstarter for their Boomtown expansion to the deckbuilding game Shadowrift. The project easily funded in the first day as the expansion brings two new character classes and two new monster factions to the proceedings. You can reserve a copy of the expansion for a $19.00 pledge or grab the expansion and core game for a $69.00 pledge. The project runs through December 13 with an expected delivery of the expansion in November next year.

From Starling Games:

Shadowrift: Boomtown is the explosive new expansion to the heroic adventure game Shadowrift (also available through this campaign). Boomtown unleashes two new Monster Factions to provide new challenges to even the most veteran heroes and introduces two new sets of Hero cards with the Chronomancer and the Fencer joining the fray.

Shadowrift: Boomtown Heroes (Starling Games)Backers of this campaign will be the first to receive this new expansion and will get it at a great price. More importantly, as a backer, you’re helping to expand the world of Boomtown by potentially adding more content through a series of stretch goals.

Shadowrift is a cooperative deckbuilding adventure game where players battle to save the besieged town of New Haven from horrible monsters that have started spilling out of unstable dimensional portals known as Shadowrift. You’re trying to fight your way past them and seal the rifts shut, or hold them at bay long enough to build your town into an impregnable fortress.

Each player builds their own deck while at the same time working together to build up and protect a communal Town deck that benefits all players.  Monsters are also always building up their power by attacking the town, trying to kill your villagers, and generally causing trouble. If the heroes can weather the enemy’s relentless assault, they can then strike back using deadly attacks, powerful spells, and learning new skills.

With six different Monster factions to battle in the core game and endless combinations of Hero powers and Town cards, Shadowrift provides a new challenge every time you play.
