Now up for pre-order on their p500 system is Space Monster, a card driven board game from Toxic Bag Game Products. It is their first board game. Previously they were best known for RPG sound packs to bring a bit more realism to your role playing experience. Let’s welcome them to the board game arena and really hope that their first game doesn’t stink. Kudos for not joining every other Tom, Dick, and Harry in going for a Kickstart and making the bold move of keeping to the old p500 system.
Here’s a little info about Space Monsters:
Deep Space – Echo Quadrant 3H-8 – The fully loaded commercial freighter TCS Brown, its seven-member crew in suspended animation, is making the return run to Earth. Awoken from their slumber to repair the damage caused by a meteor collision, the crew discover to their horror that an alien life form has come aboard their ship…a life form that will stop at nothing to survive. Now, a simple repair job becomes a desperate struggle for survival. The seven astronauts have only the tools and resources onboard to subdue and kill an organism never before encountered. An organism that evolves quickly into a nearly-unstoppable predator. An organism that can only be referred to as…Space Monster.
SPACE MONSTER is a card-driven two-player game. Each turn comprises four action rounds, where each player can perform one of several possible game actions. The Monster’s movements are hidden from the Crew player behind a game screen, and the Monster’s location is only revealed when the Monster attacks…or if the crew is lucky (or unlucky) enough to find it!
As the Crew:
- Search the ship to find the monster
- Construct weapons to fight the monster
- Consult the ship’s computer for tactical information
- Repair the damaged ship
As the Space Monster:
- Choose from over 20 different offensive, defensive and special attributes
- Move in secret through the ship
- Stalk the crew and attack out of the shadows
- Destroy the ship by damaging it section by section
