I share my thoughts about the deluxe boxed edition of The Bats of Saint Abbans adventure from Monkeyblood Design. The old school tale is statted for Swords & Wizardry and the set features four booklets containing NPCs, the adventure, a bestiary, and handouts.

SUMMARY

The production quality of the boxed set is excellent these booklets really should hold up well. Overall, I like all much of what's going on with this adventure as far as the NPCs, the town, the abbey, as well as many of the encounters and situations. The overarching storyline of the bats is just alright though and the parts feel more interesting than the whole. I could see cherry picking a lot from this adventure and going in a sandbox direction rather than the focus being on the hunt for the bats.
