I page through and shares my thoughts about the first chapter in the Fists of the Ruby Phoenix Pathfinder adventure path, Danger on Despair Island, from Paizo Inc. If you fail to pick up this first chapter will you be despairing a lost opportunity? Or is this adventure path just fight, fight, fight, fight, fight …fight? You’ll find out!

Summary
While there are some interesting set pieces and encounters, practically the entire adventure is devoted to combat. There's just tons of it across the trio of chapters and, incredibly enough, all of this is supposed to take place over three days. Getting through this first entry in the Fist of the Ruby Phoenix will take forever too because of all the time devoted to these battles. I do think the toolbox section is jam packed with gameable goodness but this sort of adventure has never been my bag of tricks. I'm sure those who just want their games to be wave after wave of enemies to hack and slash will dig this though.
