I sit down to let you know what I think of the new Monster Vault for the Tales of the Valiant roleplaying game from Kobold Press. The volume includes over 400 creatures, monsters, and NPCs ready to challenge your players. Does the Monster Vault provide new takes on classic fantasy RPG foes? Or is this just a volume filled with D&D monsters ported over to TotV? You’ll find out!

Tales of the Valiant Monster Vault Reviewed

While I half-heartedly recommended the core rulebook for Tales of the Valiant, the Monster Vault is the sort of RPG product I've learned to expect from Kobold Press. The hardcover possesses a high production quality (especially the artwork) and is filled with unique takes on classic fantasy monsters. You can easily use the volume with a current D&D campaign and, honestly, if I were running 5E I would no doubt utilize many of these entries instead of what's found in the Monster Manual.
