Prometheus Arrives June 8th

A new space exploration with a touch terror movie by director Ridley Scott titled Prometheus is due to hit theaters on June 8th. The official synopsis reads:

Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien‘ and ‘Blade Runner,’ returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.”

What isn’t really explained is that the movie will be loosely based on the universe as set forth in “Alien”, Ridley Scott’s classic space/horror movie from 1979.

Remember the huge alien ship that the crew of the Nostromo discovered at the beginning of the movie? And the huge alien creature with the exploded chest sitting in the center of the ship? The movie will revolve around the origins of that alien creature, as the human crew of the Prometheus uncover some horrifying truths.

Weyland Industries  or “The Company” as set forth in the Alien movies, now has their own website and definitively connects the Alien movies with Prometheus. You can go there to read about David 8, the newest generation of synthetic available from Weyland.

Could this become another masterpiece? We’ll know in 38 days.
