Once again the unofficial kickoff for Gen Con 2014 will begin with plenty of fun and frolic on Georgia Street, right next to the Indianapolis Convention Center. The event takes place Wednesday August 13th and it’s free to the public without the need for a convention badge.
About the Kickoff:
Once again, Gen Con will unofficially kick off with a Wednesday night event on August 13 on Georgia Street, just outside the Indiana Convention Center. A relaxing evening of fun, drink, music, and more, the Georgia Street kickoff event is free, open to the public, and does not require a badge for entry. The evening’s entertainment will feature a 21-and-older beer tapping party presented by Sun King Brewing, but also will have evening concert events, giveaways, prizes, and much more! Party events, including concerts and gaming, are open to those of all ages. Valid ID will be required to enter the 21-and-over beer garden.
Back by popular demand, the Star-Trek-themed rock band Five Year Mission will return to play on the Georgia Street stage once the Sun King Beer Tapping has commenced. But wait…there’s more!
This year, indie songwriter/musician/artist Sarah Donner will join the Georgia Street kickoff event, as well! Her music has been featured on Conan O’Brien’s blog, NPR, Showtime, and CBS News. It has also been licensed for television shows on Discovery networks, Bravo, MTV, VH1, and Showtime. A terrific live performer, Donner will play before the beer tapping begins, so make sure to head on over early! Times and further details will be made available in the weeks preceding Gen Con 2014.
What else should you expect from Georgia Street in 2014? More games, more food trucks, and more fun! Never attended Gen Con? Check out Georgia Street and hang out with gamers from across the globe!
