Elliott is holding his first Miller Family Game Weekend this Saturday and Sunday and I, for one, am wishing him loads of success. I know if I were still back in the Chicago area I’d have headed out to play games all weekend long. From my understanding, he is going to have about twenty people out to his family summer home and he’s going to show them how to play a lot of old favorites as well as some new crad and boardgames that just hit the shelves.
Elliott took it upon himself to get together all his teenaged kids (along with his son who is in his twenties) and many of their friends to introduce them to games of all sorts to help spark, or rekindle, their interest in the hobby. I’m a strong believer that we, as gamers, need to pull our collective heads out of the sand in quite a few ways to drive our sort of gaming solidly into the mainstream. Kudos to my best friend for taking the time and effort to put this endeavour in motion.
I’m looking forward to him sharing some reviews of the new releases they played to go along with a recap of the weekend. I hope that Elliott ends up making this weekend’s meet up an annual event!
Well, the weekend was quite a success. We got to try a few new games and I will be posting reviews of those. Plus I have learned some things about planning these type of events and I am hoping that next year we will have a full blown Miller Mini-con.
It's an inside joke…
Ugh, one slip of the old spellcheck and I'm branded. :p
Of course it's card game. Now I can't edit without totally ruining WF's comment.
I'm glad you like the site! We have a lot of fun stuff coming up so please keep stopping by!
Hey Jeff… What's a "crad" game? LOL!! Just teasing you dude! I LOVE this site! It looks awesome! Way to go!
