To be released at Essen and due in the USA in November, the newest expansion for Ghost Stories is Black Secret. The expansion finally allows for one player to be the evil Wu-Feng, and thus Ghost Stories can be played with up to five players. Here are all the details from Asmodee:

Cooperative games are an interesting breed – everyone wins, or nobody does. And Ghost Stories by Antoine Bauza puts plenty of pressure on the players to cooperate as they hunt evil ghosts in a cursed Chinese village.

After the first expansion, White Moon, made so many players fall in love with our Asian fantasy game all over again, Bauza teamed up with the Belgo-Mexican team to do it again.

And so it is with great pleasure that we present Ghost Stories: Black Secret at the next show in Essen, Germany. In this reinvention of the popular game, one player will leave the noble Taoist monks who defend the village, and take on the visage of the terrible Wu-Feng.

The first implication of this new twist is that Black Secret turns Ghost Stories, originally a game for one to four brave Taoist monks, into a game for two to five. One of those players, of course, is the evil Wu-Feng, trying to win the game against all the others.

New ghosts will appear for the first time, and here in the shadow of the nasty but powerful King of Nine Hells, demons stalk the village to make life even more difficult for the defenders.

Fortunately, the Taoists have some tricks up their sleeves, and are now equipped with more powerful powers like Mantras and the Blood Brother ability. Demon blood will flow!

Dark Secret also reveals the existence of catacombs beneath the cursed village, twisted caverns from which the ancient evil will spread. The expansion features a new board that will move under the village. Be careful – there are some nasty beasts down there, and they bite.

As the action approaches a climax and the Taoist defenders gasp for breath, Wu-Feng will appear in his unholy incarnation, and the tale of the brave monks battling the forces of Nine Hells will end in style.

It’s almost ironic that a host of demons can breathe new life into the game in such a spectacular fashion.

Black Secret will be full of new material, including figures you can see right here. Take your time looking at them – the next time you see them, they will be a lot closer, and it may be too late for you.

Black Secret comes out in November, which gives those who have not yet played the original Ghost Stories a chance to try it out before Wu-Feng comes to wreak his unholy vengeance.

This expansion is fully compatible with White Moon, which offers the chance to defend the villagers along with the village. To really understand Ghost Stories, our best advice is to play without the expansions first, in order to get a little experience under your belts before you take on the challenges of the expansions.
