‘Hudson & Brand, Inquiry Agents of the Obscure’ Is Available from Stygian Fox

The newest Call of Cthulhu supplement from Stygian Fox Publishing is now available. Hudson & Brand, Inquiry Agents of the Obscure takes place in the Cthulhu by Gaslight setting and provides not only adventures for the player characters but also a base of operations for their Mythos tales. The 154 page book is available as a print on demand hardcover for $49.99, softcover $26.95, or in PDF for $14.95.

Hudson & Brand, Inquiry Agents of the Obscure for 7th edition Call of Cthulhu is an official Cthulhu by Gaslight consulting detective agency in the style of the extravagant freelancers such as may be found in the stories of the great Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot.

However, instead of being a source for the Investigators to plumb for information whenever the situation gets too tough, or if they need a nudge in the right direction, it is somewhere they can actually inherit, utilise in their own investigations, or use as a safe haven from the outré horrors of the outside world. It is a starting platform, if you will, for adventures into the dark and fog-shrouded streets of mythos-infested London.

Taking its inspirational cues from The Murders at the Rue Morgue, A Study in Emerald, This House Is Haunted, and the stories of Sherlock Holmes, the book takes a mature look at the horror of human nature in the capitol of empire and its ability to turn a blind eye to the evil reaches of the Old Ones and their minions.

The scenarios deal with dark fates, dark secrets, and sometimes unwinnable outcomes. Please be aware that some of the themes are quite mature and are suitable for adult gamers only.

Hudson & Brand: Inquiry Agents of the Obscure is the first in our ‘Safe House’ series where players of the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game (published by Chaosium, Inc), have a home-base for their characters to work out of. At hand, they will have resources, a gun range, a collection of monographs on various subjects, a small library, three members of staff, and property consisting of offices and lodgings in the very heart of London.
