In this edition I’ll look at what you’ll find in Saints in Armor, the sixth title in the Musket and Pike series from GMT. The Bohemian Revolt of 1618 triggered the Thirty Years War and in the early period of the war the Catholic/Imperial cause enjoyed an almost unbroken string of victories. This game simulates six battles of the early Thirty Years War. In the period covered, the armies deployed in more compact formations so each battle fits on half of a standard map.

I hadn’t realized that all the battles here were half-mappers; that definitely appeals to me.
I own all the prior volumes in this series (I recall back in the day when Ben Hull was issuing titles as DTP’s), and am hoping one day someone comes up with Simple Musket and Pike Battle Series rules (as was done with the Great Battles of History ancients line).
Hopefully these unboxing videos can continue, I enjoy them very much and learn something every time.
Well Steve, Elliott and I were just talking about the videos this morning. I believe there are some folks out there who aren’t overly keen on video reviews and other watch them more for the sake of seeing what the game looks like as opposed to the reviewer’s thoughts. So my focus will be to continue shooting “unboxing” vids but probably not do too many video reviews. For one, we run a full fledged website (rather than just post vids or do a podcast) and producing the reviews would take way too much time away from the site itself. I think a good compromise is to continue our written and podcast reviews while doing unboxings like I have and then embed the videos into the reviews.
I have to say the videos are going to appear in waves though as long as I continue to spend about half of each month on the road.
