Numbskull Games joins the Railroad building gaming sector with a twist. Bullfrog Goldfield brings railroad management to the gold rush era. Players race to connect the railroads to the mines and build towns to support them. The game is due out before Essen, and you can pre-order now at the Numbskull Games website, with shipping to U.S.A. included.
Here is the overview of the game:
Players invest in railroads and mines through the purchase of stock certificates in order to control these companies and receive dividends. Each company has its own money, kept on a Company Charter, which is separate from a player’s money (player holdings).
The heart of the game involves connecting railroads to mines, increasing both in value. Multiple railroad connections to a mine increase the mine’s income while decreasing the earlier railroad’s income. Towns are required to support the miners, which is represented through income caps that can only be overcome through placement of sufficient buildings.
Connecting railroads to towns also increases the railroads income value. When mines become depleted, the connected railroads income value decreases.
The object of the game is to have the highest combined player holdings (cash and stock values) at the end of the game. This is accomplished by players purchasing stock in railroads and mines, developing them through mining operations, expanding rail lines, and building towns.
