The Raven Opening Weekend

The Raven, the new mystery thriller directed by James McTeigue (director of V for Vendetta), opens in theaters this weekend.

In The Raven, the macabre and lurid tales of Edgar Allan Poe are vividly brought to life – and death – in this stylish, gothic thriller starring John Cusack as the infamous author. When a madman begins committing horrific murders inspired by Poe’s darkest works, a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) joins forces with Poe in a quest to get inside the killer’s mind in order to stop him from making every one of Poe’s brutal stories a blood chilling reality. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues, which escalates when Poe’s love (Alice Eve, She’s Out of My League) becomes the next target. Intrepid Pictures’ The Raven also stars Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster).

The movie is opening to mixed reviews, so stay tuned. I like Cusack and I love Poe, so I’m hoping for a good flick.

It is an interesting note to mention that on October 3rd, 1849, Edgar Allen Poe was found wandering the streets of Baltimore delirious, in great distress, and in immediate need of assistance according to the man that found him. He was taken to the Washington College Hospital, where he died on Sunday, October 7. Poe was never coherent long enough to explain how he came to be in his condition, and, oddly, was wearing clothes that were not his own. Poe is said to have repeatedly called out the name “Reynolds” on the night before his death.

I just found that interesting and thought I would share it. The master of mystery died in a mysterious way. Here is the trailer for the movie.
